Renters’ Rights Act 2025: what applies now
In force since 1 May 2026
- Every rental advert must state the rent, and offers above the advertised rent cannot be invited or accepted. Source (opens official page in a new tab)
- Landlords cannot refuse tenants because they receive benefits or have children. Source (opens official page in a new tab)
- Tenants can ask to keep a pet, and landlords can only refuse with a valid reason. Source (opens official page in a new tab)
